Simple Pool Maintenance Tips for Phoenix Pool Owners

Each season brings about particular challenges for keeping your pool water crystal clear. Though your pool may be seeing far less action during the late summer and fall, there are some pool maintenance tasks which pool owners need to be more focused on than at any other time of the year.

Skim, Skim and Skim Some More

This is the time of year when the leaves begin to fall and when high winds can send a load of debris both large and small into the pool. The pool should be skimmed every single day in order to keep your waters pristine. If you have a bit of extra money in your budget, consider investing in a robot vacuum that will clean the bottom of the pool for you.

Scrub the Walls

You will not need to scrub nearly as often as you skim, but it still should be done once a week. Keep a lookout for any odd colors and growths on the walls and scrub them with a brush to keep your pool looking squeaky clean.

Check the Filter Frequently

During these times when debris is at an all time high, make sure that you check your filter at least once a week. Chances are there will be a lot of gunk waiting for you in your filter basket.

It is also a good idea to clean the pipes out by backwashing them once a month. Remove the leaf basket, give it a rinse, and then turn on the pump. Keep the pump running until the water coming out of the waste pump is running clear.

Keep the Pool Covered

A pool cover is a must-have for every pool owner. Not only can many of these covers enhance the safety of your pool, but they will reduce water loss and drastically cut down the amount of debris you find in your water and filter.
